So, truth be known, I was way ahead of my kids on this blogging thing--at least as far as desire goes. Unfortunately, I was, and still am, lacking the tech skills to make it happen, but now that two out of three of my children have their own blogs, I have accessible tech support, so we'll see how this goes. You can check on Lindsay at http://www.lindsandjer.blogspot.com/ and Brad at http://www.melandbradc.blogspot.com./
I've wanted to do this for a long time for the purpose of keeping in touch with friends and family across the country that we don't get to see or visit with as often as we'd like. Who knew that when the kids all left we wouldn't be sitting around watching the world go by? I had no idea we were going to find so many things to do.
Our newest venture is actually a step back to something we used to enjoy and stepped away from for awhile. In February, we went to California for Brad's wedding and we were all armed with our Canon point and shoot cameras. We did okay. We got enough good pictures to add to the gallery in the living room, but I wanted to do better. We have grandkids now and I wanted those pictures to look better too.
When we got back, Ashley found a six week adult education class at the local community college on digital photography, so she and I took it together. I didn't get much more out of it than a review of things I already knew from my film cameras and a lot of frustration with my little digital camera. That was all Dave needed to hear and we were off shopping the local camera stores with our income tax refund.
Our new purchase was so much fun that when Father's Day rolled around, I found myself in the local used camera store with a very new previously owned digital SLR in my hands for Dave so that he could have a camera of his own. (The sharing thing was overrated:)) Now it's interesting to go and take pictures of the same thing and see how differently we view things.
Last weekend was probably our last weekend of crabbing since Dave will be having ankle surgery-AGAIN-in early September. We took Ashley and Scott with us and pretty much "knocked 'em dead." (48 in two hours-I like to call it harvesting).
So we want to invite you to come along with us as we reexplore the northwest and surrounding areas with our new toys and try to develop our photographic styles. I hope to have something to post every Wednesday.
See you next week.
Linda.
